Multitrack playback for live bands
Backing tracks that hold up for an entire show.
A laptop that freezes mid-song, a click that drifts, stems you cannot touch once the set starts: backing tracks cause more live problems than they should. PadVox is a multitrack playback app built so none of that happens, with a custom audio engine that runs 8 output channels at around 1.3 ms of latency and stays rock-solid for an entire show.
A lock-free audio engine
The PadVox audio engine is built from scratch on AVAudioEngine with one job: never glitching on stage. The render thread is lock-free, so playback stays solid even under load.
It handles up to 8 output channels and 6 independent monitor buses at 48 kHz, and detects USB audio interfaces automatically.
- Up to 8 output channels
- 6 independent monitor buses
- 48 kHz / 44.1 kHz, 32-bit float
- WAV, AIFF, MP3, M4A, AAC, FLAC and CAF
- Automatic USB interface detection
Mix every stem, live
Every track is a set of stems you control independently: gain, mute and solo per stem, with VU metering at 60 fps. You scrub, cue and trigger with a transport built for performance.
Each stem can be routed to its own physical output, so you can send a click to the drummer, keys to front of house and a separate mix to in-ear monitors.
- Per-stem gain, mute and solo
- Independent output routing per stem
- 60 fps VU metering
- Scrubber, playhead and full transport
Metronome and Show Mode
A built-in metronome covers time signatures from 2/4 to 12/8, 20 to 300 BPM, with count-in, subdivisions and tap tempo, and sends MIDI Clock at 24 PPQN locked to your tempo.
Show Mode strips the interface down to large stage controls, auto-advances through your setlist and handles transitions, with MIDI and footswitch control so your hands stay on your instrument.
- Time signatures 2/4 to 12/8, 20 to 300 BPM
- MIDI Clock at 24 PPQN
- Auto-advance with configurable transitions
- MIDI and footswitch control
Frequently asked questions
What audio formats does PadVox support?
PadVox plays WAV, AIFF, MP3, M4A, AAC, FLAC and CAF files. For live performance, WAV or AIFF give the best quality.
How many output channels does PadVox have?
Up to 8 output channels, depending on your audio interface. The Pro and Business plans unlock all 8; the Free plan supports 2.
Can I send each stem to a separate output?
Yes. With a multi-output audio interface, each stem can be routed to its own physical output, ideal for separate click, FOH and in-ear feeds. Multi-output routing is available on Pro and Business.
Does multitrack playback work offline?
Yes. PadVox is offline-first and runs a full show with no internet connection. Your data syncs automatically when you reconnect.
Which devices does PadVox run on?
iPhone and iPad running iOS or iPadOS 16.6 or later, with an Apple Watch companion app for remote playback control.
